⚡ HomeLoad Check

Terms and Conditions

Version 2026-09-22 · Effective 22 September 2026

Required before taking live payments: add the legal name of the proprietor, partners or registered company in section 1. Obtain independent UK legal advice before public launch.

1 Who we are

HomeLoad Check is operated by WJ-Consultants, the trading name of [INSERT LEGAL ENTITY OR PROPRIETOR NAME(S)], of 120 Sandyhurst Lane, Ashford, TN25 4NT, United Kingdom. You can contact us at enquiries@wj-consultants.com. In these terms, “we”, “us” and “our” mean that operator. “You” and “your” mean the consumer purchasing the service.

2 The service

HomeLoad Check provides an indicative desktop assessment based on information and photographs supplied by you. It is intended to help you understand whether a proposed domestic electrical load, such as an electric vehicle charger, air-conditioning unit or hot tub, may be compatible with the electrical supply information you provide. The service may also provide indicative running costs, network-operator information, possible upgrade considerations and budget ranges.

The service is not an electrical inspection, test, survey, design, quotation or approval. It is not an Electrical Installation Condition Report, Electrical Installation Certificate, DNO quotation or confirmation that any existing or proposed installation is safe or compliant.

3 Your responsibility for information and photographs

You must provide information and photographs that are accurate, current, complete, legible and not misleading. You must answer questions honestly, check information before payment and tell us when you are uncertain. You must not guess a fuse rating, supply type, equipment rating or other technical detail and present it as confirmed.

You are responsible for checking that the property, proposed equipment, electricity tariff and usage details entered relate to the assessment you require. You must tell us about material electrical loads and circumstances requested by the website, including existing electric heating, showers, cooking equipment, heat pumps, EV chargers, solar generation, batteries, hot tubs and saunas.

If information is missing, unclear or inconsistent, we may ask for clarification, qualify the report, decline to give a conclusion or cancel and refund the assessment.

4 Consequences of incorrect customer information

Our result is only as reliable as the information made available to us. To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for an inaccurate, incomplete or unsuitable result where, and to the extent that, it was caused by information or photographs that you supplied being incorrect, incomplete, out of date, misleading, illegible or relating to a different property or item of equipment.

This does not remove our responsibility to provide the service with reasonable care and skill or affect any legal right that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted.

5 Photograph safety

Do not remove consumer-unit covers, cut-out covers, meter seals or other electrical covers. Do not expose live parts, interfere with network equipment or take photographs where doing so would be unsafe. If a label cannot be photographed safely, leave it for a competent electrician or network operator to inspect.

6 Nature and limits of the assessment

The report is a desktop opinion based on visible information and stated assumptions. Photographs cannot establish every relevant condition, including internal cable sizes, protective-device performance, earthing adequacy, service condition, maximum demand, voltage drop, fault levels or compliance with BS 7671.

Green, amber and red results describe an indicative capacity position only. They are not permission to install equipment and must not be treated as a guarantee that an installation can proceed.

Before purchasing or installing equipment, you must obtain appropriate advice and design from a competent installer or electrician. DNO notification, application or approval may also be required.

7 Estimates and third-party information

Running-cost figures, tariff data, installation costs, network costs and upgrade allowances are estimates. Actual costs may differ because of tariff changes, regional prices, equipment efficiency, duty cycles, charging losses, site conditions, excavation, network reinforcement, installer pricing and other factors outside our control.

Where we use information from a supplier, network operator, public database or other third party, we do not control that source and cannot guarantee that it will always be complete, available or current. We will identify material assumptions or fallbacks where reasonably practicable.

8 Price and payment

The price displayed before checkout is the total price for the assessment, subject to any tax treatment stated at checkout. Payment is processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card details.

A contract is formed when Stripe confirms payment and we accept the assessment request. We may reject and refund a request that falls outside the service scope or cannot reasonably be assessed from the material supplied.

9 Delivery

We will provide the result or report within the delivery period stated before payment. If no period is stated, we will provide it within a reasonable time. Automated indications may be shown immediately, but a reviewed report may require additional information.

10 Cancellation and refunds

Consumers normally have a 14-day cancellation period for distance service contracts. At checkout, you may expressly request that we begin the service during that period. If you cancel after work has begun but before the service is fully performed, we may charge a proportionate amount for work supplied up to cancellation where the law permits.

Your cancellation right ends when the service has been fully performed if you expressly requested immediate performance and acknowledged that consequence before payment. This does not affect your rights if the service is not provided with reasonable care and skill, is not as described, or other mandatory consumer rights apply.

If we cannot provide a meaningful assessment because the submitted material is unsuitable, we may request replacement information or issue a full or partial refund depending on the work already completed and your statutory rights.

11 Our responsibility

We will provide the service with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms excludes or restricts liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or your mandatory rights under consumer law.

Subject to the previous paragraph, we are not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when the contract was made, losses caused by your failure to follow the report’s limitations or obtain competent installation advice, or business losses where you purchased the service wholly or mainly as a consumer.

You must not use the report as a substitute for an electrical design, on-site assessment, inspection, testing, DNO decision or installer quotation.

12 Intellectual property and permitted use

You may use and share your report for personal decision-making and to obtain quotations or professional advice for the assessed property. You must not resell, alter or present it as an electrical certificate, design or approval.

13 Personal information

We process personal information, property details and photographs to provide the service, take payment, prevent fraud, communicate with you and handle complaints. Our Privacy Notice explains the lawful bases, recipients, retention periods and your rights. Stripe processes payment information under its own privacy terms.

14 Complaints

If you have a concern, contact us using the details in section 1 and include your payment or report reference. We will investigate and respond within a reasonable time. These terms do not prevent you from using any statutory complaint, chargeback, court or alternative-dispute process available to you.

15 Changes to these terms

The version accepted at checkout applies to that purchase. We may update terms for future purchases, but we will not retrospectively change the agreed terms for a completed purchase without your agreement where that would disadvantage you.

16 Governing law

These terms are governed by the law applicable in the part of the United Kingdom where you live. You may bring proceedings in the courts that have jurisdiction under applicable consumer law.

17 Your checkout confirmations

Before payment, you must actively confirm that:
