Who is responsible for your information

Information we collect
- your name, email address and payment or order reference;
- property address or postcode and property type;
- photographs of the consumer unit, meter, electrical intake and surrounding equipment;
- information about the existing supply, electrical loads and proposed equipment;
- tariff and usage information entered for calculations;
- communications, clarification responses and complaints; and
- basic technical and security information generated when the website is used.
Why we use it
We use the information to take payment, provide the requested assessment, prepare and deliver the report, ask questions, keep transaction records, prevent misuse, resolve complaints and establish or defend legal claims.
Lawful bases
Our principal lawful basis is that processing is necessary to perform the contract you request. We may also process information to comply with legal obligations and for legitimate interests such as fraud prevention, service security, complaint handling and defending legal claims, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.
Who receives it
Information may be processed by service providers necessary to operate HomeLoad Check, including Stripe for payments, Netlify for website hosting and server functions, and any private storage, email or report-generation provider identified before launch. We may also disclose information where required by law or to professional advisers handling a complaint or claim.
We do not sell customer information. We do not use electrical photographs for marketing or unrelated AI training unless we obtain separate, specific permission.
International processing
Some technology providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where this occurs, we will use a lawful transfer mechanism and appropriate contractual or organisational safeguards.
How long we keep it
Our proposed starting retention period is 12 months for assessment inputs, photographs, reports and related correspondence, unless a longer period is reasonably required for a complaint or legal claim. Payment, invoice and accounting records may be retained for up to six years where necessary for legal, tax and record-keeping purposes. These periods must be confirmed before launch. Information is deleted or anonymised when it is no longer needed.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to access, correct or erase your information, restrict or object to processing, receive portable data and complain about our handling of your information. Some rights are subject to legal exceptions.

Photograph safety and privacy
Do not include people, identity documents, correspondence or unrelated personal items in electrical photographs. Do not remove electrical covers or meter seals to obtain a photograph. If a safe, relevant photograph cannot be taken, tell us.
Changes
We may update this notice when the service or its providers change. The version and effective date will be shown at the top of this page.
